Martin SCHONGAUER, been born in Colmar by 1450 was an engraver and a medieval painter admired by his peers notably Dürer. He is the author of The Virgo in the Bush of Rose , "The Death of the Virgo" and "The Temptation of Holy Antoine" . He would have lived in a said house "House in the Swan" of the current street which carries its name from 1477 till 1490. He died to Breisach in 1491. The house alias House on the Viol which belonged really to the family SCHONGAUER is placed street of the Traders, in front of the house PFISTER. |
