Fountain "BRUAT"

Fountain Bruat

Fontain Bruat Colmar - Sculptur to Choain.

Frederic - Auguste BARTHOLDI achieved in 1864 a magnificent fountain that ornaments the park of Fields of March of Colmar currently.

The original statue of BRUAT is BARTHOLDI's work. Faces of origin, in pink sandstone, that surrounded him and symbolizing Africa, Oceania, Asia and America, have been destroyed in 1940.

Only the heads, recovered by residents of Colmar, are preserved currently in the Museum Bartholdi.

To the demand of the City, a new fountain, of a more contemporary style, very distant of the original theme, has been created in 1958 by the architect Michel Porte and sculptor Gérard CHOAIN (born in Lille November 12, 1906 - death in Paris in 1988)
